The Kentucky Derby could be a wet one. Early favorites Fierceness, Sierra Leone have won in the slop

Twenty horses stampeding toward the first turn in a battle for position. A screaming crowd of 150,000 and maybe some showers that dampen the Churchill Downs dirt strip.

It’s the 150th Kentucky Derby. Beyond a couple early wagering favorites, it’s a wide-open race.

Post time is 6:57 p.m. EDT Saturday. The forecast calls for 79 degrees (26 Celsius) and overcast skies with 82% humidity and a 20% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. The dirt surface was upgraded to good early in the afternoon after being muddy to start the day’s racing.

Fans poured through the gates at Churchill Downs in colorful outfits and large hats with plumage. They lined up to buy mint juleps in souvenir glasses. Cigar smoke curled in the humid air.

Wet weather could benefit six horses that have won in the mud or slop before, including early favorites Fierceness and Sierra Leone. The others with experience on messy surfaces are Dornoch, Just a Touch, Mystik Dan and Society Man.

The Derby will answer the perennial question of which 3-year-old can best handle running 1 1/4 miles in front of the biggest crowd they will ever see and hear.

Fierceness and jockey John Velazquez will break from the No. 17 post, which has never produced a derby winner.

The costliest colt in the 20-horse field is Sierra Leone at $2.3 million.

“A lot of times you buy an expensive horse like that and they can’t run,” said Peter Brandt, one of the six owners. “We’ve very, very lucky he’s made it this far. We’re looking forward to this race but also looking forward to the future of taking care of this horse.”

Conversely, Larry Demeritte shelled out just $11,000 to buy Saratoga West. The 74-year-old Bahamas native has won 180 races and nearly $5 million in purse money since he started training in 1984. Demeritte is just the second Black trainer since 1951 to saddle a horse for the derby.

“This is truly amazing how we got to this position with this horse,” he said.

The Kentucky Derby winner earns $3.1 million from the record purse of $5 million.

For the second straight year, Japan has two entries: Forever Young and T O Password. The country has never won the race.

This year’s race is one for the ages, too. D. Wayne Lukas, the 88-year-old trainer with four Kentucky Derby wins, saddles Just Steel. Frankie Dettori, the famed Italian jockey, is back to ride Society Man at age 53 after a 24-year absence.

Trainer Todd Pletcher, who saddles Fierceness, is in the Kentucky Derby for the 24th year and it never gets old. He’s won it twice.

“If anything, it just becomes more nerve-wracking,” he said.

Yankees’ Aaron Judge gets ejected for first time in career after ‘bulls–t’ call

Latest & Breaking News on Fox News

For the first time in a generation, a captain of the New York Yankees was ejected from a game.

Aaron Judge got the boot in the bottom of the seventh inning of Saturday’s Yankees-Tigers game after arguing a called strike three.

It is rather impressive that that was Judge’s first ejection since joining the big leagues since 2016, considering that no one in baseball has had more balls below the zone called strikes against him since his MLB debut. (He also has the fourth-most anywhere outside the zone.)

Judge was called out on strikes on a borderline pitch on the outside corner. Clearly upset with the call, he had some words with the home plate umpire, Ryan Blakney.

The Yankee outfielder made his way to the dugout but appeared to say the call was “bulls–t” – that’s when Blakney tossed him.

Manager Aaron Boone, who has the most ejections since 2018 when he became a manager, came out of the dugout to discuss the ejection, just as Judge made his way back to plead his case.

It appeared that Blakney replied to Judge, “You’re not going to tell me that’s bulls–t.”

MARLINS TRADE TWO-TIME REIGNING BATTING CHAMP LUIS ARRAEZ AMID DREADFUL START: REPORTS

During the next at-bat, the Yankee crowd chanted, “Ump, you suck.” Trent Grisham took over in center field.

VIEW MOMENT ON X

The last Yankee captain in Derek Jeter was never ejected throughout his 20-year career, so Saturday marks the first time the captain of the Bronx Bombers has been ejected since May 13, 1994 when Don Mattingly got tossed.

The Yanks were beating Detroit, 5-3, at the time of the ejection – Judge had gone 2-for-4 with an RBI double.

This was the most animated that Judge had been in quite some time (although one could argue whether it still warranted an ejection). Perhaps it’s a bit of anger due to his slow start. Entering the day, Judge was hitting .200.

The Yankees started off hot, winning 10 of their first 12 games of the season. They’ve since cooled off, going 11-11 since then.

‘Biden’s Vietnam’: Progressive lawmakers warn not to repeat campus protest history

Congress

Progressive lawmakers this week compared recent police crackdowns on student anti-war demonstrations to the deadly response to anti-Vietnam War campus protests over 50 years ago, warning the Biden administration not to repeat history.

In a social media post Saturday, Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) marked the 54th anniversary of the Kent State shootings, when the Ohio National Guard shot and killed four students and injured nine others at an anti-Vietnam War protest. In her post, she compared the historic tragedy to the recent wave of police crackdowns on campuses across the country.

“On the 54th anniversary of the Kent State Massacre, students across our country are being brutalized for standing up to endless war,” Bush wrote. “Our country must learn to actually uphold the rights of free speech & assembly upon which it was founded.”

In a similar post, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) wrote: “54 years ago, the Ohio National Guard opened fire on unarmed students at Kent State. Students have a right to speak out, organize, and protest systemic wrongs. We can’t silence those expressing dissent, no matter how uncomfortable their protests may be to those in power.”

Students protesting for Palestinian liberation at campuses across the country have also referenced the legacy of student resistance and state crackdowns at inflection points throughout American history.

As Columbia University students occupied the school’s Hamilton Hall last week — which was similarly occupied during anti-war and anti-apartheid student protests in 1968, 1985 and 1992 — Columbia University Apartheid Divest made comparisons to deadly clashes between students and law enforcement in the past, warning administrators and trustees: “Do not incite another Kent or Jackson State by bringing soldiers and police officers with weapons onto our campus. Students’ blood will be on your hands.”

Since April 18, more than 2,100 people linked to campus protests against the Israel-Gaza war have been arrested by police — sometimes arriving at campuses in riot gear or with weapons drawn — at over 50 schools across the country, according to the Associated Press. A small number of injuries have been reported, mostly a result of clashes between protesters and counterprotesters. There have been no casualties reported to date.

Other progressive lawmakers recently took the opportunity to criticize America’s policies towards the Israel-Gaza war and make a comparison to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders on Thursday went so far as to warn that Biden’s Israel policy and response to students’ anti-war protests “may be Biden’s Vietnam.”

“I worry very much that President Biden is putting himself in a position where he has alienated not just young people, but a lot of the Democratic base,” Sanders told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour.

Civil rights leader Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) echoed Sanders’ warning on Friday, recalling President Lyndon Johnson’s fall from favor due to his escalation of American military involvement in Vietnam.

“I was around during Vietnam. I was around during President Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society programs that brought on voting rights,” Clyburn told CNN’s Sara Sidner. “He was vice president when we got the Civil Rights Act of ’64, he brought on Medicare, Medicaid — all those things that made us a great society, he was the engineer of, and all that went down the drain because of Vietnam.”

Clyburn, whom Biden awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom later on Friday, added “I am where I am today because of protests,” but emphasized, “We did it nonviolently.”

Responding to a question about Clyburn’s Johnson reference at a Friday night press briefing, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre highlighted Biden’s record of withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, “end[ing] the longest war in American history,” and referenced the president’s earlier speech that touched on the “right to dissent” — but stressed that it should be done peacefully.

‘Reacher’ star gets political again, decries an ‘entire platform by those who mostly claim to be Christians’

Latest & Breaking News on Fox News

“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson seemed to make another dig at conservative Christians this week, posting a video of himself reflecting on Scripture passages and applying them as criticism to certain Christians.

The Amazon Prime series star also claimed that he has been “met with violence” for sharing such views. Ritchson appeared to be alluding to the backlash received for ridiculing Trump-voting Christians and some law enforcement officers in a recent Hollywood Reporter interview.

Ritchson, who also starred alongside actor Henry Cavill in the recent film “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” made his latest claims during a new video on his “InstaChurch” YouTube channel, a set of videos where he speaks to his followers about Christianity and the meaning he has gleaned from his faith.

JOHN LEGUIZAMO EXPLODES ON UNIVISION FOR PLATFORMING TRUMP, COMPARES INTERVIEW TO EXCREMENT

This time it involved a lecture about a major group of Christians in America mistreating “the foreigner” or those that do not “fly your flag.”

He first mentioned a Bible verse, stating, “Jeremiah 22: 2-3. So, if we go to the prophets, what do they say? ‘Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow.’”

He paused, then applied the verse to the world. “When I think about that, I think about politics. And when I think about this, I think about an entire platform by those who mostly claim to be Christians, who are doing the exact opposite of this with their voting power!”

He added that these are people “who are not helping, the fatherless, who are making victims of widows.”

“Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow,” he continued, stating, “This is the kind of generosity that we are called to and it’s for everybody. It’s not just for believers. It’s not just for those who have been indoctrinated into the church. It’s not just for those who are American or fit your nation state or fly your flag. It is for everybody!”

JOHN LEGUIZAMO EXPLODES ON UNIVISION FOR PLATFORMING TRUMP, COMPARES INTERVIEW TO EXCREMENT

In his April Hollywood Reporter interview, Ritchson slammed some Christians who support Trump, stating, “Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it.”

The claims went viral, prompting a significant backlash to the action star, who in that same interview added, “Cops get away with murder all the time, and the fact that we can’t really hold them accountable for their improprieties is disturbing to me.”

The latter quote prompted the National Fraternal Order of Police to confront Ritchson at the time, calling him “another useless Hollywood actor, virtue signaling for attention at the expense of brave police officers around this country” on its Facebook page.

Ritchson fired back over Instagram, stating, “This kind of emotionally immature response is the epitome of what concerns me about law enforcement today. If this is how leadership handles a peaceful disagreement, what does life look like for those unseen interactions in the street?”

During his recent Christian lecture, Ritchson seemed to touch on the anger he sparked, claiming he was the victim of violence.

“If you want to see violence flee the world, be more generous to everybody! That is the Christian ethic! That is what I don’t see happening. And when I speak up about it in my own ways, I’m met with violence.”

Reddit users defend man who told his ‘overwhelmed’ wife to do more chores around the house

Latest & Breaking News on Fox News

A Reddit user who was fed up with his wife’s sudden reluctance to do chores is perfectly within his rights to feel that way — although an expert told Fox News Digital that the problems may have a deeper cause.

“AITA for telling my wife to do her chores?” asked Reddit user “Anteater1500” in a post on Saturday, May 4, on Reddit’s popular “Am I the A–hole” (AITA) subreddit.

In his post, he revealed that he is 24 years old and has been married to his 26-year-old wife for the last four years.

MAN ON REDDIT IS STUNNED WHEN WIFE DEMANDS MORE HELP AROUND THE HOUSE: ‘I DO THE BEST I CAN’

“I work a consultant-type job, which requires me to have periods [of] roughly a month where I work ~70 hours a week,” wrote Anteater1500.

Right now, he is in one of those periods, he said.

Typically the two split the household chores, with his wife doing more, as the couple does not have children nor does she have a job, the man said.

“But in weeks like this, I do less to none because 10 hours a day (no weekends) of mostly standing/moving about means that when I get home I usually collapse on the couch and then do some prep for tomorrow,” said Anteater1500.

WOMAN ON REDDIT IS CONFUSED BY BOYFRIEND’S NEGATIVE REACTION TO HER CARE PACKAGE: ‘UNGRATEFUL DUDE’

Lately, however, the man’s wife has not being doing “even 50%” of the household chores, which he said is “fine for a bit.”

“We all have our ups and downs, and I’ve never had an issue with a messy house. I’ve been microwaving some frozen stuff/not eating for dinner,” he said.

His wife, however, came to him saying she’s “feeling overwhelmed with all the mess in the house” — and asked him to help out more with chores.

WOMAN WHO LEFT VERY TALL BROTHER IN ECONOMY CLASS WHILE SHE TOOK FIRST CLASS WAS NOT WRONG: REDDIT USERS

“I’m not in the house for 12-ish hours including commute and lunch break, so I don’t really care how the house looks,” said Anteater1500. “I told her if she wanted the house to be clean she could just do her chores.”

This, however, did not go over well with his wife.

“She went tightlipped and told me she’d let that go because I was under a lot of stress. I went to sleep soon after and got up [at] 6 and left for work at 7:30 before she woke up,” he said.

A few hours into the workday, he received a text from his wife saying she was disappointed with his reaction to her saying she needed help.

“I get that she’s stressed. I do,” he said. “But I’m doing my job. Is it so unfair to expect her to do hers?”

In a follow-up comment, Anteater1500 wrote that he’s continued to put dishes in the dishwasher, throw things away, and put his laundry in the laundry basket — and that he normally does his own laundry when he is not having a stressful work period.

Fox News Digital reached out to Anteater1500 for any updates.

REDDIT USER ACCUSED OF SPOILING HER YOUNG SON BY ASKING FOR AN INVITE TO GIRLS-ONLY EVENT

A therapist told Fox News Digital on Saturday that the wife’s reluctance to do household cleaning may have a deeper cause than just being “overwhelmed.”

“It appears there’s an underlying issue within their relationship,” Rachel Goldberg, LMFT, founder of Rachel Goldberg Therapy in Los Angeles, told Fox News Digital via email.

“She might be growing resentful of his absence or lack of attention, expressing it through neglecting chores to grab his notice, signaling that something’s amiss.”

It is “understandable” for the husband to expect his wife to do more chores during his busy period, she said — but “it’s important for him to initiate a conversation to understand why she’s not contributing as much.”

Goldberg added, “They need to discuss how to address the situation together and he can emphasize the importance of equal partnership.”

She continued, “It’s about finding solutions that work for both of them, whether it’s increasing her chore responsibilities or exploring other avenues like employment.”

Reddit users largely agreed with the therapist, saying that while Anteater1500 is not wrong to want his wife to take care of her responsibilies, it seems as though something else is underfoot.

On the AITA subreddit, people can reply to posts and indicate the poster is “NTA” (“Not the A–hole”), “YTA” (“You’re the A–hole”), “NAH” (“No A–holes Here”) or “ESH” (“Everyone Sucks Here”).

Users can “upvote” responses they think are helpful and “downvote” ones that are not.

Most of the nearly 600 responses to the post so far said that Anteater1500 was NTA — but that he needed to figure out what was going on for the sake of his marriage.

“When one partner is working and the other is not, it’s fair that the unemployed partner take care of a supermajority of household upkeep. I’m assuming that your wife is not going to school or starting a business, because you would have mentioned it,” wrote user “ClackmasLivesMatter” in the top-upvoted response.

The same user continued, “This begs the question of what exactly your wife is doing for 10-12+ hours a day while you’re working.”

The same commenter added, “If you can’t sort this out by talking, marriage counseling is probably in order.”

In another top comment, “Fancy_Cheek_4790” wrote, “I can’t imagine that two adults make that big of a mess. I’d be curious as to what’s going on with her. Is she resentful, angry, depressed, lonely, etc.”

One user had an alternate suggestion: The wife should get a job so the couple can hire a housekeeper.

“There is a simple solution. If she doesn’t want to do housework, then suggest she gets a full-time job and you can use some of the extra money to pay someone else to do it,” said user “chez2202.”

“Not only does she get to not clean, but someone else who needs a job gets employment,” said chezz2202. It’s a “win-win-win for three people.”

Pauly Shore’s portrayal of Richard Simmons in biopic is happening whether fitness guru ‘likes it or not’

Latest & Breaking News on Fox News

The show must go on for Pauly Shore.

During an appearance at his “Netflix Is a Joke” show at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles on Friday, the stand-up comedian — who is starring as Richard Simmons in the upcoming biopic — said he’s moving forward with the role despite the fitness guru’s recent disapproval.

“I’m also going to be starring in the Richard Simmons biopic … whether he likes it or not, Richard,” Shore, 56, said, according to Variety. “Just another f—ing bump in my f—ing road.”

RICHARD SIMMONS LEFT THE SPOTLIGHT FOR THIS REASON, DOC CLAIMS: ‘HE’S JUST NOT THE SAME GUY ANYMORE’

Last week, the 75-year-old Simmons shared his thoughts on the biopic

“The Pauly Shore biopic does not have my blessing. Some major studios are interested with me being involved in MY story. Who should play me? Tom Cruise lol,” Simmons said in a statement, confirmed by his publicist to Fox News Digital on April 26.

Simmons’ comments come after Deadline reported Jordan Allen-Dutton was slated to write the script for the upcoming biopic. According to the outlet, the film doesn’t have a title, and few specifics have been disclosed.

Following Simmons’ statement, he took to Facebook and wrote, “I just read that a man that I don’t know is writing my bio pic starring Pauly Shore. I do not approve this movie. I am in talks with major studios to create my own bio pic with some help. Wait for this movie.”

Shore shared a lengthy statement with Fox News Digital and explained he was “up all night crying” after seeing Simmons’ social media post.

“Richard, how do you not approve of this movie? I mean, really, who’s better to play you in a movie than me?” Shore said. “Leonardo DiCaprio’s not gonna play you. Brad Pitt’s not gonna play you. I’m perfect. Everyone already thinks I’m you. We’re the same. Beautiful inside and out. Helllll yea!

“Richard, you haven’t even heard the pitch! Why don’t you simply let me come over to your house, bring you some warm matzo ball soup and a pastrami sandwich with dark mustard from Canters, rub your feet, and we can listen to the writer, Jordan Allen-Dutton, pitch you our idea?

“I know you, Richard. We used to hang out back in the day. I’d always see you at The Comedy Store. You’re my old buddy. Richard, you’re gonna love our movie. We’re going to make the most beautiful cinematic masterpiece that’s going to honor you in a way that you’ll drop to your knees and cry with joy and happiness.”

“And I also heard the good news that you’re in talks with studios to do a biopic about yourself. That’s amazing! The more movies about you, the better! You deserve it. There should be hundreds made,” he added.

“But as you know, many biopics are made without the subject agreeing to be part of it, such as Elvis, Stephen Hawking, Marilyn Monroe, Steve Jobs, and many, many more. Some of them turned out good, some of them turned out bad. Mine is going to turn out amaze-balls. So…let me know when you want me to come over with yummy food from Canters, and Jordan and I will come pitch you in your living room. I love you, Richard, and so did my mom.”

“Love you always, Your old friend Pauly Shore.”

Draymond Green warns Patrick Beverley incident with fans could get worse: ‘That is forbidden for us’

Latest & Breaking News on Fox News

Golden state Warriors forward Draymond Green believes Patrick Beverley’s behavior in the Milwaukee Bucks’ Game 6 loss could become a bigger issue for the NBA veteran.

During the most recent episode of his podcast “The Draymond Green Show,” Green spoke about the incident where Beverley launched a basketball into the crowd behind the Bucks’ bench on Thursday night.

A woman was hit in the head, and another fan deflected a second shot from Beverley.

“That was interesting, because Pat keeps having these instances after they lose in these playoff games,” Green said, adding that because the incident involved fans, “it opens up an entirely different can of worms.”

“[NBA commissioner Adam Silver] is going to have a problem on his hands with this one, because it’s about as close as you can get to going in the stands, and that is forbidden for us.”

Green also noticed that arena security became involved and raised the issue that “those people may wanna press charges.”

PATRICK BEVERLEY APOLOGIZES TO ESPN PRODUCER; BUCKS GUARD WILL NOT REPRISE GUEST ANALYST ROLE, SOURCES SAY

Green also spoke about the incident that followed in the locker room when Beverley wouldn’t take a question from ESPN producer Malinda Adams after he found out she did not follow his podcast. He told her to get her microphone out of his face and then eventually asked her to leave the interview circle.

“I ain’t never heard somebody say if you ain’t subscribed to my podcast, don’t ask me a question,” Green said laughing.

Beverley later apologized on social media about the interaction with Indiana Pacers fans, and Adams also said on X that she had received a call from the guard apologizing for their interaction.

“That’s not the Milwaukee way or the Bucks way,” Bucks coach Doc Rivers said Friday said. “We’re better than that. Pat feels awful about that. He also understands emotionally — this is an emotional game and things happen — unfortunately, you’re judged immediately, and he let the emotions get the better of him.”

Buffett says Berkshire sold its entire Paramount stake: ‘We lost quite a bit of money’

US Top News and Analysis

Warren Buffett speaks during the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting in Omaha, Nebraska on May 4, 2024.
CNBC

OMAHA, Neb. — Warren Buffett revealed that he dumped Berkshire Hathaway’s entire Paramount stake at a loss.

“I was 100% responsible for the Paramount decision,” Buffett said at Berkshire’s annual shareholder meeting. “It was 100% my decision, and we’ve sold it all and we lost quite a bit of money.”

Berkshire owned 63.3 million shares of Paramount as of the end of 2023, after cutting the position by about a third in the fourth quarter of last year, according to latest filings.

The Omaha-based conglomerate first bought a nonvoting stake in Paramount’s class B shares in the first quarter of 2022. Since then the media company has had a tough ride, experiencing a dividend cut, earnings miss and a CEO exit. The stock declined 44% in 2022 and another 12% in 2023.

Just this week, Sony Pictures and private equity firm Apollo Global Management sent a letter to the Paramount board expressing interest in acquiring the company for about $26 billion. The firm has also been having takeover talks with David Ellison’s Skydance Media.

Paramount has struggled in recent years, suffering from declining revenue as more consumers abandon traditional pay-TV, and as its streaming services continue to lose money. The stock is in the red again this year, down nearly 13%.

Buffett said the unfruitful Paramount bet made him think more deeply about what people prioritize in their leisure time. He previously said the streaming industry has too many players seeking viewer dollars, causing a stiff price war.

Late night hosts avoiding chances to mock Biden despite ‘hard-earned reputation as a gaffe machine’: report

Latest & Breaking News on Fox News

Politico Magazine recently explained how late night comics have gone out of their way to avoid joking about President Biden even though he is a “rich vein of material for late night or sketch comics.”

In a column published Friday, the outlet mentioned that Biden has been able to escape the mockery that previous presidents on both sides of the political aisle have been subjected to, especially former President Trump.

It opened with the example of “The Late Show’s” Stephen Colbert emceeing a star-studded fundraiser for Biden’s 2024 campaign in New York. During the fundraiser, Colbert never really grilled the president but kept it to “ultra-friendly exchanges with Biden, Obama and Clinton as emcee of the largest Democratic fundraiser ever.”

LATE-NIGHT COMEDY FLOUNDERS IN RATINGS AS COLBERT, KIMMEL, OTHERS OPENLY ROOT FOR DEMOCRATS, SHRED REPUBLICANS

The piece stated Colbert’s gig was “emblematic of a new era in late night comedy. It’s more proudly partisan. More one-sided. More cautious in its targets. And it’s generally soft on Biden.”

Politico pointed out the irony of this situation, noting how Biden is especially ripe among world leaders for jokes at his expense. “By any metric, Biden is a rich vein of material for late night or sketch comics. He arrived in the White House with a hard-earned reputation as a gaffe machine. The oldest president ever, he was first elected to the Senate during the era of eight-track tapes and rotary telephones.”

The piece continued, pointing out aspects of Biden that would be comedic fodder in a previous era, like the fact that he has “stumbled over his own words, mixed up the names of world leaders and countries and even physically stumbled on stage himself,” while in office.

After listing even more examples, the outlet observed, “For all his ripeness as a comic target, though, Biden has largely escaped the kind of pillorying that some of his predecessors got.” It mentioned how comedian Chevy Chase mocked President Gerald Ford’s stumbles, and how former President Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinski “consumed late night” at the time.

It then pivoted back to Colbert at the Biden fundraiser declaring, “I would like to point out that it is after 10:00 p.m. Sleepy Joe is still awake, while Donald Trump has spent the past week falling asleep in court every morning.”

According to the outlet, this reluctance to slam Biden is an example of a “sea change in comedy” that has happened in the Trump era. It has “carried over to Biden’s presidency, with late night hosts appearing to view themselves as bulwarks against Trump, careful not to let their humor be perceived as advancing his interests in any way.”

BILL MAHER REVERSES COURSE AFTER PREVIOUSLY BASHING NY V TRUMP CASE: ALVIN BRAGG WILL BE A ‘RISING STAR’

A recent Media Research Center study corroborated this bias against Trump and other conservative politicians among network late night comics.

The watchdog found that 81% of all political jokes told on major late night comedy shows in 2023 – including ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “The Late Late Show with James Corden” – targeted conservatives.

The column did mention that Biden does get an occasional ribbing, providing a joke from ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel, who recently quipped, “Biden’s physical took about three hours, one hour of examination, two for him to get his pants back on.”

However, it stated, “But even when the knives are out for the president, they’re often drawn in the context of comparing him to something far worse, as if any joke about him requires a Trump counterpoint.”

Trump still takes all the heat, with the column noting that the former president “is a flashing target for late night hosts and writers,” and rationalizing this as “the result of his narcissism and a set of singular traits and peccadilloes that stretch far beyond those of his recent predecessors.”

The report further described this Trump-era shift on the part of late-night hosts, noting it’s driven by their audiences. “They’d like their political enemies punished and their friends treated with a lighter touch,” it stated, adding, “Largely liberal late-night audiences don’t want to hear about Biden’s stumbles — in fact, much of the audience finds that criticism somewhat offensive. They want to hear about Trump’s foibles instead. The programming largely reflects that.”
