Kim Jong Un: North Korea must 'overwhelmingly beef up' military, nuclear arsenal

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has ordered his government to “overwhelmingly beef up” the nation’s military, including its nuclear capabilities.

The leader made the remarks Sunday at the beginning of the new year, according to state media outlet Korean Central News Agency.

“They are now keen on isolating and stifling (North Korea), unprecedented in human history,” Kim said. “The prevailing situation calls for making redoubled efforts to overwhelmingly beef up the military muscle.”

He continued, “The prevailing situation calls for making redoubled efforts to overwhelmingly beef up the military muscle.”

A report from the summit meeting called the “mass-producing of tactical nuclear weapons” and government officials to “develop another ICBM system whose main mission is quick nuclear counterstrike.”

SOUTH KOREA FIRES WARNING SHOTS, SCRAMBLES AIRCRAFT AFTER NORTH KOREAN DRONES CROSS BORDER

North Korea fired three ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan on Saturday morning —  a further escalation after previously flying drones into South Korean territory.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported Saturday morning that they had detected the launch of three missiles from North Korean territory south of its capital, Pyongyang.

[World] Black Eyed Peas in Polish row over rainbow armbands

The US band were paid a reported $1m for performing on Polish Television’s New Year’s Eve special

A new year row has broken out in Poland after US band Black Eyed Peas showed support for LGBT rights by wearing rainbow armbands during Polish TV’s New Year’s Eve special.

Some 8.3 million viewers tuned in to the public broadcaster’s New Year’s Eve of Dreams programme, a live show in the ski resort of Zakopane.

One minister condemned the “LGBT promotion” as a disgrace.

But the main governing party refused to get involved in the controversy.

Growing up LGBT in Poland can still be a traumatic experience and both the Law and Justice (PiS)-led government, and President Andrzej Duda used anti-LGBT rhetoric to win votes ahead of elections in 2019 and 2020.

But this row is not only about respect for people’s sexual orientation in Poland, one of Europe’s most Catholic countries despite diminishing church attendance. It’s also about money, Poland’s role in the EU and the future of the governing right-wing coalition government.

Headline act Black Eyed Peas walked onstage wearing rainbow armbands. Singer will.i.am thanked Poles for their “open hearts and minds” for taking Ukrainian women and children into their homes following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

He then dedicated the band’s song Where Is the Love? “to those that experience hate throughout the year”, name-checking the Jewish community, people of African descent and the LGBTQ community.

The armbands generated a reaction on social media. “LGBT promotion on TVP2. Disgrace! This isn’t New Year’s Eve of Dreams, it’s New Year’s Eve of Degeneracy,” said Poland’s Deputy Justice Minister Marcin Warchol on Twitter.

Mr Warchol asked the singer on Twitter why the band had played gigs in countries with much worse LGBTQ records, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia, accusing the musicians of selling their principles for profit.

Will.i.am responded that rather than boycott such countries, it was better to play there to inspire people to have greater tolerance. And the money? “It’s called a music career,” he replied.

“We are the Black Eyed Peas. That’s P-E-A-S, or you can say the Black Eyed Peace, or P-E-A-C-E, because we are about peace, equality and harmony. We are not the Black Eyed PiS. We stand for unity, love, tolerance,” the singer said, referring to the PiS-led government in a recording posted on Instagram after walking offstage.

The band, who according to some reports received $1 million for their performance, were a last-minute replacement for ex-Spice Girl Melanie C, who pulled out citing “issues that do not align with the communities I support”.

Poland’s dominant governing coalition party, Law and Justice, has distanced itself from the armband criticism. Asked about the row on Monday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said he supported “the family” but was against restricting bands’ “artistic expression”.

Mr Warchol belongs to the junior coalition partner, United Poland, known for its hostility to LGBTQ rights and greater EU integration.

The party’s leader, Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, is in open dispute with the prime minister, whom he suspects is willing to sell off the country’s sovereignty to Brussels in exchange for unblocking €35.4bn (£31bn) in EU pandemic recovery funds for Poland.

The European Commission has blocked the release of that money largely because of concerns that judicial reforms, authored by Mr Ziobro, have undermined the independence of Poland’s courts.

Prime Minister Morawiecki is keen to reach a compromise that will release the cash, but without the support of the small United Poland party, PiS loses its parliamentary majority, ahead of elections scheduled this autumn.

Mr Ziobro is not letting up. The justice minister has even questioned whether the armband display is a concession to Brussels as part of a potential compromise.

“Violence, the destruction of churches spitting at children and corrupting children… the LGBT flag is a symbol of intolerance and aggression,” he wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

“In this matter, United Poland fundamentally disagrees with Mateusz Morawiecki and PiS. We will never agree to the artistic promotion of LGBT on Polish television.”

How to tell if your cell phone has been secretly hijacked

Latest & Breaking News on Fox News

We’ve all been instructed to be alert for potential malware contaminating our devices. Infections often find their way to our computers, phones and tablets after clicking a dangerous link, downloading an attachment from an unknown email, or even downloading a malicious app from the Google Play Store.

Generally, these attacks target your devices, but is it possible for hackers to also work their way into your phone’s SIM card?

HACKERS’ LATEST TRICK LOOKS LIKE FREE MOVIE STREAMING

Unfortunately, the answer is yes, as evidenced by this sad story shared with us by the reader, Carol B.:

“My brother had a hacker that got a SIMS card from his Mobile phone service. He then hacked into all of his email accounts and changed the passwords. He proceeded to kill my brother and his wife’s SIMS cards on their phones, so that they wouldn’t get notifications from their credit card companies, banks etc. The hacker was able to hack into one of his banking accounts and had $1000 transferred using Zelle to an account. What can we do to protect something like this happening again?”

Why would a hacker want to hack into your SIM card?

To put it in plain terms, your SIM card carries all the information which allows you to connect with your larger network through calls, texts and emails.

It stores your mobile subscriber number, which helps authenticate and identify you on mobile devices. As a result, if someone is successful in hacking into your SIM card, it gives them the power to:

Most hackers hope to access your SIM card to pull off any of these three fraudulent practices:

Once accessing your SIM card, hackers will use your information to try and trick your service provider into switching your phone number to a new SIM card and phone number, resulting in the owner’s number and information being erased. To do this, the original phone will need to be restarted to complete the transfer. This often requires the hackers to contact the original phone owner, posing as the service provider, to restart their phones.

In this instance, after accessing your SIM card, the hacker will clone all the information found on it copying the stolen data onto a new SIM card that they control. Once they succeed at this con, it allows the criminal to access all the original owner’s texts, calls and location data, which the hacker can view on their device.

Simjacker is spyware software, often sent to people via an SMS message, which if opened, will allow the hackers to read your messages, listen in on your calls and track your location. This is achieved mainly through software called S@T Browser, a basic web browser of sorts, primarily used by service providers to interact with web applications. While S@T Browser is installed on many devices that leave people vulnerable to Simjacker, it is also rarely used, and these attacks are most common in the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe

STOP FROM BEING HACKED BY GETTING THIS CRITICAL WINDOWS UPDATE NOW

While we have now established that your SIM card can be hacked, and is very dangerous should it potentially happen, it is far less common than hackers accessing your devices. This is primarily because it is much less easy for criminal hackers to access your SIM card and go unnoticed. For that matter, hackers can do many things they could do by hijacking your SIM card, such as using your identity to make calls and texts.

It’s also worth noting, back in late 2022, Apple no longer uses physical SIM cards in any of their newly launched products. Instead, they are deploying electronic SIM cards known as an eSIM. Thankfully, eSIM cards are somewhat less vulnerable to hackers when it comes to the threat of SIM swapping. Crooks and scammers can no longer claim their SIM card is lost. However, like all technology, it is still sadly possible to hack an eSIM card. With that in mind, it’s important to be on the lookout for any tell-tale signs that your SIM card may have been hacked – period.

ARE HACKERS IN YOUR PHONE? HERE’S HOW TO FIND OUT

As mentioned above, there is some cold comfort that can be taken in the fact that it is extremely easy to determine whether your SIM card has been hacked.

Phone numbers can only be associated with one SIM card, so if you are the victim of SIM cloning or swapping, you won’t receive any new calls or texts. Have a friend call or text you, and if the call or text comes through, then there is no possibility that your SIM card has been successfully cloned or swapped.

When checking your phone bill and you see several calls or texts made to numbers you don’t recognize, that leaves open a very real possibility that your SIM card has been hacked. Immediately contact your service provider to get more information regarding these calls.

If you get a random text message telling you to restart your device, seeming to be from your service provider, it is more than likely a scam artist. They will not be able to complete cloning or swapping your SIM card unless you restart your device. Service providers will never contact you instructing you to restart your device, so if you do get such a message, best to call them immediately.

One of the most guaranteed ways of determining if your SIM card has been compromised is if your phone shows up in a location different from yours while using a tracking app such as “Find My”. However, many hackers will attempt to disable this service as a means of avoiding detection.

Many apps and websites, particularly those for banks or others containing vulnerable information, tend to use two-factor verification. This is a way of circumventing hackers who may have accessed your login information, by sending you a text or email with a verification code. If your SIM card is hacked, then they will be able to receive that code, giving them the ability to log in and change your username and password.

PRO-RUSSIAN HACKERS CLAIM CYBER ATTACK ON FBI WEBSITE: REPORT

The chances of your SIM card being hijacked are relatively low. There are, nonetheless, steps you can take to make avoid this happening to you.

HOW TO TELL IF SOMEONE IS SNOOPING ON YOUR ANDROID

The biggest security precaution you can place on your SIM card is enabling a SIM card lock, requiring a PIN code for anyone trying to access your SIM card.

Important note: Always be sure that you know your current PIN before activating the lock.

Influential Club for Growth urges no vote on McCarthy for Speaker unless rules demands are met

Just In | The Hill

The Club for Growth, an influential conservative organization, has urged House members to vote against House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to become Speaker unless certain demands are met.

The organization said in a statement on Monday that representatives should vote for a Speaker who will provide “transformational reforms” to the House, establish a “pro-growth” agenda and restore the individual rights and powers of rank-and-file members.

The statement does not mention McCarthy by name but says these conditions should apply to anyone desiring to become Speaker.

“Leadership races are typically ‘inside baseball’ politics but the American People are desperate for new political leadership in America,” it said.

The organization said the “dire necessity” of restoring the House to a legislative body that gives members from all communities the ability to speak on behalf of constituents, amend and impact legislation, and vote on behalf of the people is more important to the public than any individual member.

The group said the next Speaker must hold a vote on a constitutional amendment to establish term limits of three terms in the House and two terms in the Senate to expose “career politicians” who serve their own interests instead of those of the American people.

It said the House should have “open rules” on all major rules legislation, like appropriations, allowing rank-and-file members to have their amendments brought to the floor for a vote.

The organization is also calling for the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC that works to elect Republicans to the House, to be prohibited from spending money or providing grants to any super PAC to engage in open GOP primaries or against any Republican opponent. The Speaker should also not solicit funds or direct any super PAC to oppose a Republican incumbent.

The group also calls for a “true conservative” to be included in House leadership, saying that none of the elected leadership from November’s House GOP leadership elections represents the views of a third of Republicans.

“The transformational reforms described in this key vote alert are vital to restoring the People’s House and ending business as usual,” the group said.

McCarthy has made multiple concessions to skeptics to him becoming Speaker over the past few weeks as he has tried to gather the votes necessary to win the election. He agreed to a rules package released on Sunday that would allow five Republican members to move to vacate the chair, forcing a vote on ousting the Speaker, at any point and create a select subcommittee on the “Weaponization of the Federal Government.”

But Republicans opposed to McCarthy have wanted him to go further, allowing only a single member to force a vote to vacate the chair, and his path to the Speakership is uncertain ahead of the vote on Tuesday.

Bills player Damar Hamlin’s toy drive raises more than $3M after on-field cardiac arrest

Just In | The Hill

The GoFundMe page for the community toy drive run by Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has raised more than $3 million after Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest early in the Bills’ Monday Night Football contest against the Cincinnati Bengals.

As of Tuesday morning, Hamlin’s charitable foundation, The Chasing M’s Foundation Community Toy Drive, has raised at least $3.4 million in the 12 hours after his injury.

The Chasing M’s Foundation Community Toy Drive, launched in 2020, serves to help children and their families who are struggling through the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic by gifting them toys during the holiday season.

Hamlin’s foundation holds its annual toy drive at Kelly and Nina’s Daycare Center in McKees Rocks, Pa., which is co-owned by Hamlin’s mother.

“If you are not able to contribute monetarily, you can support this initiative in other ways,” Hamlin wrote in the description of his foundation. “We are accepting donated toys at the Daycare Center or simply spread the word by sharing this fundraiser on your social channels.”

“Thank you so much for supporting me on and off the field. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with you to help make the holiday season a little brighter for the kids in our community.”

Hamlin, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, suffered a cardiac arrest after collapsing after tackling Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins during the first quarter of Monday’s contest.

The 24-year-old safety stood up after the play was over, only to fall to the ground a few seconds later. The game has been postponed and medical authorities administrated CPR on the field before he was taken to a local medical facility by ambulance.

In a tweet, the Bills said that Hamlin is “currently sedated and listed in critical condition” at the UC Medical Center after being taken to the facility to undergo further testing and treatment.

The game has been temporarily suspended due to Hamlin’s injury, as players and coaches on both teams were visibly shaken by the incident.

Press: George Santos for Speaker of the House

Today’s the big day, when Republicans, albeit narrowly, take control of the House of Representatives. But, as they meet to elect a new Speaker of the House, what should be a triumphal moment for House Republicans has turned out instead to be a monumental embarrassment — or, as one Republican member told Politico, a “big belly-flop.”

Despite agreeing to give up some of his authority and power as Speaker, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) reportedly still doesn’t have enough votes to win. The result is pure chaos. The “Kevin Only” crowd has vowed not to vote for anyone else, while the “Never Kevin” gang still can’t come up with a candidate to replace him. And, in desperation, some Republicans are beating the bushes looking for anybody — even a former member or non-member of Congress — willing to take the job.

Meanwhile, the perfect candidate is staring them right in the face. Why all the confusion? There’s one obvious answer — the one man who, in the spirit of Donald Trump, embodies everything the Republican Party stands for today. The one man who’s perfect for the job: New York’s newly elected Rep. George Santos.

Of course, naysayers in the media will contend that Republicans could never elect Santos because he doesn’t tell the truth. But they’re missing the point. Santos is a Trump Republican. He’s not expected to tell the truth. That’s why McCarthy has not uttered one word of criticism of Santos. After all, he and congressional Republicans never held Donald Trump responsible for all the lies he told as president — 30,573 in four years, according to the Washington Post. Why should they now hold George Santos responsible? Telling the truth no longer matters.

In fact, for many Republicans, the only legitimate criticism of Santos is not that he lied at all, but that his lies, though legion, are not of the same scale and importance as Donald Trump’s. True, Santos told a lot of whoppers. Among other falsities, as duly reported by the New York Times, candidate Santos said he graduated from Baruch College. (He did not.) He said he worked at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. (He did not.) He said he owned 13 properties. (He does not.)

Santos also lied about his family. He said his family name was actually Zabrovsky. (It’s not.) He said his mother immigrated from Belgium. (She did not.) He said she was in the South Tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 and died “a few years later.” (She was not; she died in 2016.) He said his grandparents were Ukrainian Jews who survived the Holocaust. (They were not. They were born in Brazil.) He claimed that his family was Jewish, but later said he only meant they were “Jew-ish.”

No matter how hard they dig, reporters have been hard-pressed to find anything Santos said about himself or his family that’s true. Nevertheless, his lies pale compared to those told by Trump, who still claims, among thousands of other outrageous untruths, that the crowd at his inauguration was the biggest in history; that 5 million people voted illegally for Hillary Clinton in 2016; that he won the 2020 election, and that the armed mob that assaulted the Capitol on Jan. 6 were “patriots” and “peaceful people.”

But that doesn’t disqualify Santos. Next to Donald Trump himself, he’s still appears to be the Republican Party’s biggest liar, which makes him the perfect candidate to lead Republicans in the House. George Santos for Speaker!

Ken Block's biggest 'Gymkhana' YouTube videos

Action sports legend Ken Block died in a snowmobile accident in Utah on Monday but left behind a catalog of amazing stunt driving videos that set the standard for the genre.

Block became one of the early automotive YouTube megastars with his “Gymkhana” series, which launched in 2008.

The first video was a promo for his DC Shoes brand called “Ken Block Gymkhana Practice.”

Gymkhana is a type of motorsport that involves performing a series of precision driving maneuvers, including 360 degree spins and reversing, through a course typically set up in an open lot.

“Ken wanted to take the concept further and on a larger scale,” according to the video, which was shot at the El Toro Airbase in California and featured Block driving a Subaru rally car at high speeds through hangars and performing donuts around one of his crew as they rode along on a Segway.

The four-minute video seems sedate compared to the nine that followed, each raising the bar for excitement.

Here’s a look at Block’s most-viewed “Gymkhana” videos:

GYMKHANA SEVEN: WILD IN THE STREETS OF LOS ANGELES: 57 MILLION

Block built an 845 hp all-wheel-drive 1965 Ford Mustang for his assault on the streets of Los Angeles, which included a trip down the paved banks of the Los Angeles River and driving under a lowrider car as hit hops up and down on its hydraulic suspension.

Gymkhana’s third installment took the series to the next level, as Block performed his signature moves in a Ford Fiesta rally car on the high 51-degree banking of the closed Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry high speed oval track in France.

The first Gymkhana shot on public roads remains far and away the most popular a decade after its release. It opens with a sprint across the Bay Bridge then shifts to the surface roads, where Block tangles with a pair of buses designed like the city’s cable cars, drifts up the crooked Vermont Street and makes several jumps on its iconic hilly streets.

Indiana man arrested for fatally stabbing 2 people in 2017

Latest & Breaking News on Fox News

A cellphone analysis and partial fingerprint on a cellphone have led to the arrest of a Fort Wayne man on murder and other charges in the fatal stabbings of a couple in 2017.

Dustin Neal, 35, was charged Friday with two counts each of murder, felony murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury in the June 2017 slayings of 25 year-old Noele Trice and 29-year-old Bryan Lash.

The couple was found dead the morning after hosting a party that Neal attended, court documents said.
