Numerous people visited Joe Biden's house while classified documents were stored in his Wilmington garage

President Biden’s longtime Wilmington, Delaware, residence has become a focal point of recent revelations that the classified documents were stored in the president’s garage, where numerous individuals have visited over the years.

The Wilmington files are the latest batch of Obama-era classified documents found among Biden’s personal possessions. The revelations came just three days after the White House confirmed the existence of similar classified material in the president’s office at the Penn Biden center in Washington, D.C.

On Thursday, Biden sparred with Fox News’ Peter Doocy when pressed on the whereabouts of the Wilmington files, confirming that classified documents, along with his Corvette, were stored in a locked garage.

“And by the way my Corvette is in a locked garage. It’s not like it’s sitting out in the street,” Biden added.

As speculation swirls over the Wilmington classified files, here is who might have had access to the garage in question.

Though it is still unclear when the Obama-era classified files were placed in the president’s garage, Hunter Biden appeared to reside at his parent’s Wilmington home during 2018 and 2019 — two years after the Obama administration left the White House.

A scan of Hunter Biden’s laptop files shows the president’s son was issued a Delaware license in May 2018, listing his father’s Wilmington home as his primary residence, the Washington Free Beacon first reported.

The scandal-embroiled Hunter Biden also appeared to change his banking address to the Wilmington home in December 2018, as well as listing the address in the billing information for several purchases throughout 2019, Fox News reported.

Hunter Biden may have accessed his father’s garage while Biden was serving out his second term as vice president.

In October 2016, Biden appeared on the premiere of “Jay Leno’s Garage,” a YouTube series where television personality Jay Leno teams up with celebrities to chat cars. Then-Vice President Biden suggested that his two sons accessed the garage at least once when upgrading the engine of his prized 1967 Chevrolet Corvette.

“My two sons, Beau, who passed away, and my son Hunter decided as a Christmas gift to have the engine rebuilt for me,” Biden told Leno.

Biden’s presidential and campaign staff

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Biden converted the basement of his Wilmington residence into a de facto campaign headquarters in March 2020.

Biden frequently hosted virtual events from his residence long after then-President Trump resumed in-person rallies and fundraisers on the 2020 campaign trail.

As president, Biden has continued to spend considerable time in his home state, staying in Delaware approximately 194 days so far in his first term, either at his Wilmington or Rehoboth Beach residences, according to an Associated Press tally.

On these weekend visits, the president is typically accompanied by a full security detail and his top aides.

Though Biden confirmed his garage is locked, it is unclear whether this area of the residence is off limits for use by his staff or if staff could have accessed the garage from inside the house.

Many questions remain unanswered on the exact whereabouts of the classified files, when they were placed in the garage and who might have had access outside of Biden’s family and staff.

Though Republicans continue to press the White House to release a visitor log of Biden’s Wilmington residence, it is unclear whether a log even exists, adding further obscurity to the situation. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also dodged questions on whether a visitor log would be made public.

Squad member Ayanna Pressley opposes committee on China for fear of racism: 'Embolden anti-Asian rhetoric'

“The Squad” member Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., said Thursday she was one of the few House members who voted against a select committee to examine U.S. competition with China for fear it would embolden racists.

Pressley told CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins that she voted against its formation in order to fight back “anti-Asian rhetoric and hate” she claims could be inspired by such a committee.

The congresswoman was one of only 65 members of the House of Representatives who voted against the China committee on Tuesday. Support for it was largely bipartisan, with 365 members voting “Yes,” including all Republican congressmen and over two-thirds of House Democrats.

Fox News Digital reported the new select committee was proposed “to examine U.S. strategic competition with China.” Remarking on the need for the committee, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., stated Tuesday, “We spent decades passing policies that welcomed China into the global system. In return, China has exported oppression, aggression and anti-Americanism. Today, the power of its military and economy are growing at the expense of freedom and democracy worldwide.”

But Pressley was against it for fear of racism.

“I voted no because, again, it’s another sham effort here, it’s really clear that this is just a committee that would further embolden anti-Asian rhetoric and hate and put lives at risk,” Pressley said.

The member of the far-left “Squad” added the U.S. government has “enough infrastructure in governance to tackle those issues and we don’t need the select committee. And that is why I voted no, because I am afraid that it will embolden anti-Asian rhetoric and hate.”

REP DONALDS SAYS MCCARTHY AND GOP WILL PROBE CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY INFLUENCE ON US

When asked if the “146 Democrats who voted yes on it are wrong in their votes,” she replied, “We just see it differently.”

Other Democratic lawmakers voiced their concern about the committee inspiring anti-Asian rhetoric. Top Democrat on the House Rules Committee, Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., warned the committee to be careful to avoid such discrimination.

“President [Donald] Trump repeatedly mislabeled COVID with racist language. Such rhetoric coincided with spikes in hate-based acts of violence and discrimination against people of Chinese or Asian origin across our country. This language has no place on this committee or anywhere in Congress,” he said.

Unlike Pressley, McGovern ultimately voted “Yes” on the formation of the committee despite his concerns. He announced, “While I do have concerns here, after reading the resolution itself, I will be voting ‘yes.’ The Democratic Party has led the way in implementing efforts to monitor China’s compliance with international human rights and rule of law standards, and we will continue to do so here.”

I helped sue to protect women's sports in West Virginia, and we won

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

It was a win for women, to be sure. But perhaps even more importantly, it was a win for reality in a day when so many decisions ignore basic facts and common sense.

That’s the broad importance of a federal district court’s recent decision that upheld West Virginia’s Save Women’s Sports Act — a decision that rejected a legal challenge to the law that would have undermined women’s sports in the state by allowing males who identify as female to compete in girls’ and women’s sports.

I played soccer at West Virginia State University while this lawsuit was happening and, with the help of my legal team at Alliance Defending Freedom, intervened in the case, B.P.J. v. West Virginia State Board of Education. As a woman who has lived and breathed soccer since I was old enough to walk, I wanted to help defend the state’s law that ensures equal opportunities for women in sports.

MINNESOTA TEACHERS TO BE REQUIRED TO PUSH CRT, SUPPORT TRANS IDENTITY TO OBTAIN TEACHER’S LICENSES

West Virginia legislators enacted the women’s sports law because they saw what was happening around the country — and how girls are the ones who suffer when those in power ignore biological reality. In Connecticut, for example, the state athletic conference adopted a policy that allows males to compete in girls’ athletic events, a decision that has consistently deprived girls of honors and opportunities to compete at elite levels — women like Selina Soule, Chelsea Mitchell and Alanna Smith, whom I have come to know in our respective legal battles. Connecticut’s policy is directly at odds with Title IX, a federal law designed to create equal opportunities for women in education and athletics.

Lainey Armistead is a former soccer player at West Virginia State University.

Lainey Armistead is a former soccer player at West Virginia State University.

Title IX allowed me to compete for — and win — a substantial scholarship to attend the college of my choice, which set me on a personal and career trajectory that will shape the rest of my life. And West Virginia’s law protected me so I could play the sport I love safely and fairly — not worried a male athlete would take my place on the field, as is becoming increasingly, and tragically, common in other states.

The truth matters, and it is crucial that our laws and policies recognize the physical differences between men and women. I grew up playing soccer, including playing pick-up games with my brothers and other boys, who are generally faster, stronger and bigger than girls. As any female athlete can tell you firsthand, sports showcase the biological differences between men and women.

It’s okay to say that. It’s okay that we have sex-separated teams. It’s okay that a WNBA game is different than an NBA game.

Actually, it’s beautiful; equal, yet different; worth defending and protecting. Women have had to fight for their place in sports. For 50 years, Title IX has protected us, and we can’t throw that away now. We’ve come too far, fought too hard.

I want to ensure future generations of women can experience the life lessons learned from sports: tenacity and never giving up, the thrill of winning after working hard to defend or score a goal, just being on the field and everything else drifting away, and having your teammates’ backs no matter what. No girl should be deprived of those experiences, put on the back burner, or told she’s second to boys when it comes to athletics.

Thankfully, at least one federal court has recognized that blurring the lines between the sexes causes women to miss out. As the court in my case found, fairness in women’s sports laws like West Virginia’s are consistent with the U.S. Constitution and Title IX. Eighteen states have enacted laws protecting female athletes, and I’m hopeful more states will join the fight and more courts will uphold these just laws.

If we want a future where girls can earn a competitive scholarship and a spot on the team, we have to protect fairness in sports. And that starts by acknowledging that men and women are different — and that’s not only OK. It’s good, right and beautiful.

WATCH: Lisa Marie Presley shared remarks at Elvis Presley's 88th birthday at Graceland days before her death

Days before Lisa Marie Presley passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, she attended an event at Graceland in Memphis to honor her father, Elvis Presley, for what would have been his 88th Birthday Celebration.

During her brief remarks at the estate, she thanked enthusiastic supporters and applauded their willingness to travel from around the world to visit the King of Rock ‘n Roll’s personal home.

“It’s been a while; I missed you,” Presley opened her remarks Sunday.

After a member of the audience shouted, “We love you, Lisa,” she responded: “And I love you.”

“I keep saying you’re the only people that can bring me out of my house. I’m not kidding,” Presley added, drawing a laugh from those in attendance.

“Today, he [Elvis Presley] would have been 88 years old. That’s hard to believe,” his daughter said. “I think that he would be proud.”

“This year has been an incredible year,” Presley added.

The film also starred Tom Hanks, who played Elvis’ manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

“I think the movie was incredible,” Presley said Sunday, Jan. 8. “I am very proud of it and I hope you guys are too.”

The soft-spoken Presley also said she “really appreciated” how people “come from all over the world” to visit Graceland and honor her father.

“It’s moving to me and my family. Thank you,” she said before waving to the crowd and exiting the stage.

Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of icon Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, died on Thursday. She was 54.

“Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time,” Priscilla’s representative said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Lawmakers aim to fight 'smash-and-grab' robberies with bipartisan bill to hold criminals accountable

EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Young Kim, R-Calif., introduced a bipartisan bill Wednesday to boost coordination between federal, state and local authorities to crack down on organized crime across the nation.

The “Improving Federal Investigations of Organized Retail Crime Act” directs the attorney general, secretary of homeland security and postmaster general to submit a joint report on how relevant federal agencies can coordinate to counter “organized retail crime networks.”

These agencies would include the FBI and Customs and Border Protection.

“In my district, we see businesses victimized by organized retail crime nearly every week,” Kim told Fox News Digital. “This cannot become our new normal.”

Kim said nine businesses in her district were victims of smash-and-grab attacks this week alone.

The bill directs agencies to focus on how to assist state and local law enforcement in “compiling materials and evidence necessary for prosecution of organized retail crime” and “increase cooperation and information sharing.” The plan from agencies would be required to be published within a year by the comptroller general.

The bill is cosponsored by Reps. Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif., Maria Salazar, R-Fla., and Andrew Garbarino, R-N.Y. Salazar said organized crime decimates neighborhoods across the nation and must be stopped through a full, collaborative effort.

“Retail crime is a billion-dollar underground industry whose negative effects hurt businesses in Miami and across our country,” Salazar told Fox News Digital. “I’m proud to be working with my colleagues in a bipartisan manner to bring federal and state counterparts together in a united fight against criminals looking to chip away at the American dream.”

According to the National Retail Federation, retailers lost an average of $719,548 per $1 billion dollars in sales in 2020 due to organized retail crime.

Garbarino said greater efforts must be taken to counter the violence and illegal business of organized crime networks.

“Businesses throughout Long Island and New York City were plagued by smash-and-grab robberies and other retail crime over the last several months,” Garbarino told Fox News Digital.

“Retail crimes not only greatly impact the livelihoods of business owners big and small but can also lead to additional crime, such as the sale of stolen goods on black markets to fund drug and human trafficking crimes. Federal law enforcement needs the tools and authority to collaborate with all law enforcement agencies, coordinate a response and execute a plan of action to thwart these organized criminal efforts.”

Mississippi orthopedic clinic agrees to pay $1.87M to settle false claims

An orthopedic clinic in north Mississippi and its owner have agreed to pay more than $1.8 million to resolve allegations that the health care provider knowingly submitted false claims to Medicare and Medicaid, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.

New Albany, Mississippi-based Mitias Orthopaedics, PLLC, its owner, Dr. Hanna “Johnny” Mitias, and a subsidiary, Champion Orthopedics, allegedly submitted false claims to the federal programs between Jan. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2015 for brand-name medication used for knee injections that were not administered, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi said in a news release.

Instead, a much cheaper, compounded agent was alleged to have been used, and the defendants improperly claimed compensation for the higher-priced products, the news release said.

“Taxpayers deserve to receive the products and services billed to their federal health insurance programs. The viability of Medicare and Medicaid is threatened by each wasted dollar. Our people come before profits,” U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner said. “This settlement sends a clear message that the Department of Justice will hold healthcare providers accountable if they knowingly overbill federal healthcare programs.”

Joyner said the settlement is an example of how whistleblowers and the government can work together to recoup and deter overbilling. The settlement resolves allegations in a 2015 lawsuit by a medical device sales representative filed under the whistleblower provisions of the False Claims Act, which allows private individuals to sue on behalf of the government for false claims and to share in any recovery, he said.

Retrial underway for Wisconsin man accused of killing wife with antifreeze

Prosecutors and attorneys for a Wisconsin man accused of killing his wife with antifreeze in 1998 delivered opening statements Wednesday in his retrial, nearly two years after a judge vacated his previous conviction.

Mark Jensen, 63, was convicted in 2008 of killing his wife, Julie Jensen, at their home in the Kenosha County village of Pleasant Prairie and was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

But a Kenosha County judge vacated his conviction in April 2021 after the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that Jensen deserved a new trial. The court found that a letter his wife wrote incriminating him in the event something should happen to her could not be used by the prosecution.

WISCONSIN MAN GETS LIFE IN PRISON FOR WIFE’S POISONING DEATH

Jensen, who is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in his wife’s death, remains in custody on a $1.2 million cash bond, the Kenosha News reported.

Prosecutors allege that he began poisoning his wife with antifreeze in December 1998, drugged her with a sleeping medication and later suffocated her to death over a three-day period.

Jensen has maintained his innocence, with his attorneys arguing that Julie Jensen was depressed and killed herself after framing her husband.

Kenosha County Assistant District Attorney Carli McNeill told the jury during her opening statements that prosecutors would present evidence “that the defendant murdered his wife with ethylene glycol, that this was not Julie Jensen ingesting that substance to commit suicide.”

“She lived for her kids, and she died because the defendant murdered her,” McNeill said.

Jensen’s defense attorneys said Julie Jensen’s infidelity and depression strained the couple’s marriage and led her to take her own life.

“What brings us here today is Julie Jensen’s suicide,” said Mackenzie Renner, Mark Jensen’s attorney. “The suicide of a woman who was in declining mental health.”

AG Garland appoints special counsel to investigate Biden classified documents

Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday appointed a special counsel to investigate President Biden’s handling of classified documents dating back to the Obama administration.

Garland tapped Robert Hur, a former U.S. attorney, to handle the investigation. The Justice Department escalated it to a special counsel investigation from a mere review on Thursday after a second stash of classified documents was found inside the garage of Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware, home. The first documents were found inside the Washington offices of the Penn Biden Center think tank.

“Earlier today, I signed an order appointing Robert Hur a special counsel for the matter I have just described,” Garland said Thursday after outlining the located documents. “The document authorizes him to investigate whether any person or entity violated the law in connection with this matter. The special counsel will not be subject to the day-to-day supervision of any official of the department, but he must comply with the regulations, procedures and policies of the department.”

Hur worked in the DOJ’s criminal division investigating counterterrorism, corporate fraud, and appellate matters, Garland said. Hur served as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland until he left the DOJ in 2021.

“I am confident that Mr. Hur will carry out his responsibility in an even-handed and urgent manner and in accordance with the highest traditions of this department,” Garland added.

The White House Counsel’s Office searched Biden’s two residences in Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington, Delaware, this week after news of the first documents broke. White House lawyers say they immediately contacted the DOJ when they discovered the documents inside the Wilmington garage. There has been no indication of what the documents contain or whether Biden or anyone else read them after he left office as vice president.

“Lawyers discovered among personal and political papers a small number of additional Obama-Biden administration records with classified markings. All but one of these documents were found in storage space in the President’s Wilmington residence garage,” White House lawyers wrote in a Thursday statement. “One document consisting of one page was discovered among stored materials in an adjacent room.”

The White House says no documents were found at Biden’s residence in Rehoboth Beach. Biden’s administration has also arranged to deliver the documents to the DOJ.

The Wilmington documents are the second stash of Obama-era classified documents to be uncovered. The first collection was found at the Washington offices of the Penn Biden Center, a Biden-aligned think tank.

Biden sparred with Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy over the second group of documents on Thursday.

“Classified documents next to your Corvette? What were you thinking?” Doocy asked.

“I’m going to get the chance to speak on all of this, God willing it’ll be soon, but I said earlier this week — and by the way my Corvette is in a locked garage. It’s not like it’s sitting out in the street,” Biden responded.

“So the documents were in a locked garage,” Doocy prompted.

“Yes, as well as my Corvette. But as I said earlier this week, people know I take classified documents and classified material seriously,” Biden said. “I also said we’re cooperating fully and completely with the Justice Department’s review.”

The discovery echoes revelations last year that former President Donald Trump had housed a trove of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida after leaving office. The FBI ultimately raided his residence to recover some 300 classified documents.
