Enes Kanter Freedom speaks out on $500,000 bounty from Turkish government

While leading a basketball camp in Vatican City, Enes Kanter Freedom received a phone call from the FBI. Freedom was told to return to America immediately.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish government placed a bounty worth up to 10 million Turkish lira, or $500,000, for his capture.

FORMER CELTICS PLAYER ENES KANTER FREEDOM REVEALS WHAT THE NBA IS ‘REALLY MAD’ ABOUT

The former NBA center revealed more about his initial reaction to the news in an interview on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“When I had a conversation with my friends on the ground, they said the mafia, the serial killers actually, professional hitmen and cartels could be after my case,” said Freedom. “And I was speechless. I was like, ‘This is this cannot be happening to an American citizen in U.S. soil.'”

Freedom, who most recently played on the Boston Celtics during their run to the 2022 NBA Finals, was also placed on Turkey’s most-wanted terrorists list. He has been vocal about human rights abuses in his parents’ home country and Erdogan’s leadership, referring to the Turkish president as the ‘Hitler of our century.’

But it appears Freedom will continue to call out injustices in Turkey.

“You know, I’m not the only one. There are so many journalists, academics, professors and celebrities on that list,” Freedom said.

Threats have prevented Freedom from returning to Turkey to see his family for nearly ten years, yet he still believes the nation can serve as “the bridge between Islam and the West.” On Wednesday, Freedom had a clear message for the Biden administration.

“It’s been almost two years and he has not done a thing yet. We have to prioritize human rights. There are so many political prisoners and innocent people in the jail waiting for help,” said Freedom.

This isn’t the first time the former player has been outspoken about human rights violations around the globe.

Off the court, Freedom has clashed with Lebron James and called out the NBA for its lucrative relationship with China. On the court, he’s donned sneakers with messages about Xi Jinping and the treatment of the Uyghur community.

Freedom has made the argument that his speaking out played a role in why he is no longer in the league.

Parents revolted against critical race theory. Here's how they won

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The recent action by a California school board to ban the use of critical race theory in instruction highlights the uprising of parents over political indoctrination in the classroom.

As in many school districts, a pro-parent slate of candidates recently won a majority on the school board in Temecula in Southern California. It is often difficult for grassroots candidates to break through, but times have changed.

As one major local radio station noted, the Temecula school board meetings “used to draw sparse attendance, but now parents and concerned citizens are turning out in record numbers to meetings.”

According to the station, attendees voiced concern that the district has embraced an “agenda that is linked to Critical Race Theory,” which categorizes people into oppressor and oppressed classifications based on race.

CALIFORNIA SCHOOL BOARD VOTES TO BAN CRT

Joe Komrosky, a parent and one of the successful candidates, said that he wants to keep radical social theories and propaganda out of the classroom.

Parents always remember this: if you are not teaching your kids, someone else is,” says Komrosky. “You want to make sure what is being taught to them is actually good, safe, and correct.”

Komrosky and the new pro-parent majority immediately put their campaign promises into action by passing a policy banning critical race theory from being used in district classrooms.

The ban includes the key tenets of critical race theory, such as “only individuals classified as ‘white’ can be racist because only ‘white’ people control society.”

In addition, the policy banned the notion that meritocracy, hard work, or the scientific method are racist or sexist.

In addition to success in electing pro-parent school board members, parents are challenging critical race theory on an array of fronts.

Some parents, for example, are fighting CRT in court.

Gabs Clark, a low-income African-American mom, filed a federal lawsuit against her son’s high school, which had denied him a diploma for refusing to complete assignments in a required CRT-influenced course.

According to Clark’s lawsuit, the alleged purpose of the course’s curriculum “is to help students ‘unlearn’ what they know about the world, and what their parents have taught them to believe, and instead adopt a new worldview that ‘fights back’ against ‘oppressive’ social structures such as family, religion, and racial, sexual, and gender identities,” with students “required to reveal and discuss their personal views and identities, in order for the teacher and other students to know who needs the most ‘unlearning.'”

Clark’s lawsuit argues that the school had violated her son’s First Amendment free speech rights, his equal protection rights under the Fourteenth Amendment, and rights under federal laws such as the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Other parents are fighting CRT by forcing schools to be transparent.

When her daughter’s school refused to divulge details of CRT-influenced teaching, Rhode Island mom Nicole Solas filed approximately 160 public records requests to force the school to reveal what was being taught in the classroom.

In response, the school district threatened to sue Solas, who observed, “this was really their way of letting everyone know that if you asked too many questions, they were going to attack you.”

The district eventually backed down and, in the wake of Solas’ efforts to push curriculum transparency, some states are starting to require schools to post learning materials online.

Finally, parents across the country are organizing.

Groups like Parents Defending Education, Moms for Liberty, and others have started up in order to give parents a voice in curriculum debates.

“We were promised a colorblind vision but now we are told colorblindness is a trait of white supremacy,” says Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice.  “Moms are mad and we can see through this nonsense.”

CRT proponents thought they could radically change school curricula and no one would notice. Moms and dads did notice, however, and that is why the great parent revolt has started. As parents stand up, Tiffany Justice says, “the education establishment will have no choice but to recede from encroaching on parental rights.”

TikTok still irresistible? 5 steps to ratchet up your family’s privacy now

Despite how powerfully good it can be for those who engage in its entertaining videos and learn new tips, TikTok is increasing a growing threat to our privacy and security.

TikTok has gained a leading position in the social media platform world. All the cool kids use TikTok. And most don’t bat an eye while laughing at, liking, and sharing one video after another.

It’s addictive, informative and fun for millions. TikTok, even more than other social networks, comes at an enormous trade-off to your privacy and security because of how and what it gathers about your life. The threat posed by TikTok is so extreme that some countries have banned it altogether. It’s not uncommon for parents who work at big tech companies to forbid the use of TikTok by their own children.

That’s not slowing its growth. So, how do tame this beast of all its bad traits?

Sure, the safest thing to do is never download or delete TikTok right away, but that’s not going to fly with most people who are deciding to throw caution to the wind.

Follow me here, because I think we can strike a balance and make everyone in the family happy while getting a lot smarter about what TikTok is doing behind the scenes with our lives. There’s one obvious wake-up call I ask of every parent.

Ask this one question

Am I okay with the government of communist China having access to my child’s intimate personal details, knowing what gets their attention, and always tracking their whereabouts?

That’s not all TikTok is harvesting of your family’s security and privacy. They are stealthily scraping bits and pieces of your life to serve up videos it’s learned you’ll watch and to turn you into a juicy ad target. That part is the obvious trade-off we expect in a data mining financial model that is standard for every major big tech media company.

The Chinese government can access your data from TikTok

The concerning part unique to TikTok is that it is owned by a parent company ByteDance whose home is in mainland China. And in that country, the government laws require ByteDance to give access to its data for any reason whatsoever and without any sort of court order or warrant. TikTok maintains that it is operated independently of ByteDance but data moving from its U.S. servers to mainland China has already been identified.

So what, right? TikTok collects a massive array of data that it then processes through a machine algorithm to master aspects of your life in extraordinary detail. TikTok is known to record the device you are using, your location, IP address, search history, everything in all your messages, what you watch and for how long, biometric information including your face and voice prints, whom you know and how you interact with them.

TikTok knows more about you than you ever imagined

Sophisticated algorithms driving social media networks like TikTok can identify what topics and emotional tones capture your attention most easily.

All this crafting of your communications and interactions makes for an easy target for TikTok to steer in one direction or another knowing what you will react to like a puppet. It may sound like science fiction, but it is the very reason why many Silicon Valley executives do not allow their own children on TikTok and several other social media platforms.

Dad refusing to pay daughter for babysitting divides Reddit: 'Felt that wasn't necessary'

An anonymous father on Reddit asked users if he’s in the wrong for refusing to pay his college-enrolled daughter for babysitting and completing chores – and people appear to be divided in the comments section.

Reddit user Throwaway476905, who couldn’t immediately be reached for comment since his account was suspended at the time of publication, submitted a post to the “Am I the A——” subreddit on Monday, Jan. 16, where he shared his apparent familial dispute.

The father wrote that he asks his 20-year-old daughter to babysit his 5-year-old twin sons about three times a week without pay. In addition, he wrote that he believes his request is a reasonable one because he’s paying his daughter’s college tuition and she lives with him rent-free.

DAD SAYS TEEN DAUGHTER CAN’T GO ON DATE BECAUSE BOY WON’T MEET WITH HIM

“Occasionally she has to watch over her younger brothers since I may be busy with work or when I need a break to hang out with my girlfriend,” Throwaway476905 wrote.

An anonymous father of a 20-year-old woman and two twin boys (not pictured) asked Reddit users if he's wrong for refusing to pay his daughter for babysitting and doing chores.

Throwaway476905’s daughter asked him to lessen her babysitting duties, according to the post.

“She told me she’s okay with cooking and cleaning around the house, but having to watch over her siblings was annoying & stressful and that it’s taking away from her studies,” Throwaway476905 wrote.

“That p****d me off because I myself went to school while having to pay bills & take care of her as a baby alongside my ex-wife,” he continued. “I told her she was acting very privileged and that if I could do it, so could she. She didn’t like that very much and stormed off into her room.”

The dispute reportedly escalated when Throwaway476905’s daughter told her aunt [Throwaway476905’s sister] about the exchange she had with her father, he wrote.

MAN ASKS REDDIT IF HE’S WRONG FOR NOT MOVING HIS LATE WIFE’S URN TO MAKE HIS NEW FIANCÉE HAPPY

Throwaway476905 described his sister as “very kind” and “gullible at times,” and wrote that he didn’t like that his sister suggested he pay his daughter an allowance.

Throwaway476905, an anonymous father on Reddit, shared he doesn't think he should have to pay his 20-year-old daughter for babysitting and doing chores because he's paying her college tuition and lets her live with him rent-free.

“I explained why I felt that wasn’t necessary and she told me not to compare my situation to my Daughter’s since apparently I put myself in the position I was in back then which I guess is a fair argument,” Throwaway476905 wrote.

He reiterated that he doesn’t think an allowance should be necessary since his daughter lives in their shared home and is having her college tuition paid, but he was open to hearing from strangers on the internet about whether he’s “wrong for not wanting to pay her extra money to do basic chores.”

More than 9,000 people upvoted Throwaway476905’s post and he was ultimately labeled an “A——” by Reddit voters, but the post started a debate in the 5,400-plus comments left under his query.

DAD SPENDS $35G WEDDING FUND HE SAVED FOR HIS DAUGHTER ON A CAR, VACATION

The post’s commenter, a user who received more than 30,900 upvotes from the “Am I the A——” Reddit community, said Throwaway476905 was in the wrong – referencing how the father of three argued how he “went to school while having to pay bills & take care of her as a baby alongside.”

“That was your own baby and your own decision, same as now,” the top commenter wrote. “[Your] daughter has no kids, it’s not her responsibility.”

A 20-year-old college student is reportedly being asked to care for her 5-year-old twin brothers about three times a week in addition to other household chores, her father explained in an anonymous Reddit post.

In response to the top comment, one Reddit user initially sided with the dad, and wrote, “She’s living there rent free…that’s her allowance for these chores.”

The user revised their original response to the following – “You should be paying her for babysitting, you don’t need to pay her for the other chores though.”

A Reddit user agreed with the revised comment and wrote that they don’t think an allowance is needed for household chores.

“…but she absolutely should get paid for watching children she didn’t choose to have – since they’re her siblings, not children,” the commenter wrote, which earned more than 9,200 upvotes.

Throwaway476905, an anonymous father on Reddit, wrote that his sister has suggested he pay his college-aged daughter for babysitting and completing household chores while he works and takes time to see his girlfriend.

“I think if she’s asked to babysit once every few weeks, that is the equivalent of a chore,” another Reddit user wrote. “If it’s multiple times a week, that changes things.”

Some commenters expressed that they think the father could be seen as selfish since he noted that he asks his daughter to watch his young sons when he wants to spend time with his girlfriend.

“I see that this person ‘NEEDS’ to ‘hang out with his girlfriend’ and not care for his children quite a bit and that is odd phrasing,” one user wrote, which garnered more than 1,100 upvotes.

Other Reddit users asked if the daughter is already handling the majority of the household chores since the father acknowledged he asks her to cook, clean and do “typical things you’re expected to do on a daily basis anyways” in addition to watching her young brothers.

Suspended Reddit user Throwaway476905 wrote that he asks his college-aged daughter to cook, clean and do other household chores in addition to babysitting her elementary-aged twin brothers.

Many commenters shared that they think there’s cause for concern if the father’s babysitting requests are truly getting in the way of the daughter’s schoolwork.

One Reddit user wrote that they believe it’s “not reasonable” to ask a college student to watch children under the age of nine for three or four days per week.

“I fully expect that older children can and should on occasion help care for younger siblings when necessary – in emergencies or once in a while situations,” the Reddit user elaborated. “It’s just what families do. But if it’s frequent or regular there needs to be some compensation [in my opinion], and if it’s interfering with school? That’s a problem.”

Athena Brownfield: Oklahoma authorities examine ID of child's remains found near murder suspect's former home

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT

Oklahoma authorities have discovered a child’s remains in Rush Springs, Oklahoma — the same town where 4-year-old Athena Brownfield‘s suspected murderer said he buried the toddler,, according to court documents.

“The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has recovered the remains of a child in rural Grady County outside of Rush Springs. At this time, the OSBI cannot confirm the remains are those of Athena Brownfield. The remains will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City for positive identification,” OSBI said in a Tuesday afternoon Facebook post.

Investigators say 35-year-old Ivon Adams — one of two caretakers for Athena and her 5-year-old sister — allegedly killed her on Christmas and buried her body before fleeing to Arizona.

Ivon Adams is charged with first-degree murder and child neglect in connection with Athena’s disappearance from Adams’ home in Cyril, Oklahoma, and the girl’s death. His wife, 35-year-old Alysia Adams, is charged with two counts of child neglect.

“Alysia confessed that on Dec. 25, 2022, around midnight that night, Ivon beat [Athena] and held her by her arms, [Athena] was not moving and her eyes were barely open,” Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) Special Agent Brenna Alvarez wrote in a probable cause affidavit filed in Caddo County. “He then laid her on the ground and punched her chest at least more three times after that. [Athena] never moved after that.”

The alleged abuse occurred at the Adams’ home at 225 West Nebraska Avenue in Cyril, Oklahoma.

MISSING ATHENA BROWNFIELD: AUTHORITIES SAY SEARCH FOR 4-YEAR-OLD OKLAHOMA GIRL IS NOW A ‘RECOVERY OPERATION’

Ivon left the residence with Athena afterward and later told Alysia that he buried her near the fence line of their old property in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, according to Alvarez.

Athena and her older sister called Alysia “Mom” and “Aly.” They called Ivon “Dad” and “Uncle Ivon,” the court filing states. Their biological mother, Jasmin Brownfield, left the girls in the Adams’ care approximately one to two years prior to Athena’s disappearance. The Adams did not take the girls to the doctor or enroll Athena in school, according to the affidavit.

Athena was initially reported missing last week after a postal carrier found her 5-year-old sister wandering around alone on Nebraska Avenue in Cyril, Oklahoma, around 2 p.m.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents on Thursday arrested Alysia Adams on two counts of child neglect in connection with the disappearance of 4-year-old Athena Brownfield.

The postal carrier knew the 5-year-old girl “wasn’t where she was supposed to be and notified police,” at which point law enforcement realized that Athena was missing, said OSBI public information officer Brook Arbeitman during a press conference posted to Facebook last week.

Biden, Harris photo-op with Warriors team takes awkward turn: 'I'm not doing that'

President Biden, Vice President Harris and the Golden State Warriors were involved in a cringe-worthy moment as the group took a photo during the team’s visit to the White House on Tuesday.

Biden and Harris appeared to be discussing how the photo was going to be taken. The president then bent down on one knee, and coach Steve Kerr can be seen saying, “No,” and shaking his right hand to wave him off. The president smiled, and the vice president laughed as he was on one knee.

“I’m not doing that,” Harris said with a smile.

Harris then moved in between Warriors superstar Steph Curry and veteran Andre Iguodala as the photos were taken.

The awkward moment generated plenty of Twitter reactions.

The Warriors celebrated their latest NBA championship after spurning President Trump in 2017 and 2018.

“On behalf of the Warriors, I want to thank President Biden and Vice President Harris for the invitation to come to the White House today to celebrate our championship from a year ago,” Kerr said at a White House press briefing. “It’s a great reminder of how lucky we are to be Americans, to live in a country where we can chase our dreams and enjoy the fruits of our labor and the celebration of all those around us.”

Kerr said he participated in a roundtable discussion at the White House about gun violence and gun safety, a topic Kerr has been outspoken about in the past.

“Over the last hour or so, we learned a lot about what this administration is doing to help create a safer environment in our country,” Kerr added. “Something that’s very close to my heart. And it’s wonderful for me to learn a lot more than I knew.”

Curry, who was voted as the NBA Finals MVP for the first time, thanked the administration for getting WNBA star Brittney Griner back to the United States after her February arrest at a Moscow airport.

“A great opportunity for us from the basketball community to thank President Biden and his staff for all their hard work and diligence on getting Brittney Griner home,” Curry said Tuesday.

Karine Jean-Pierre shredded after dodges on Biden classified documents: 'Not qualified for this job''

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was lambasted for her latest press conference where she tried to avoid answering questions about President Biden’s purported mishandling of classified documents.

One reporter grilled Jean-Pierre about documents being found at his Delaware home, asking if more searches are underway.

“We have addressed multiple questions from here. Multiple questions have been answered by the president,” Jean-Pierre responded. “I’m just going to continue to be prudent here. I’m going to let this ongoing review that is happening, this legal process that is happening, and let that process continue under the special counsel.”

“I’m not going to comment from here,” she added, saying the Biden administration has made a habit of staying quiet on Justice Department matters.

Following the presser, Fox News contributor Joe Concha said the Biden classified documents scandal has exposed Jean-Pierre as not being fit for her role.

“Karine Jean-Pierre has shown that she is not qualified for this job at this level. We’ve seen that now over the last couple of months, because she keeps saying over and over again — as if she’s almost programmed, like she has no ability to think extemporaneously — that the president ‘takes these documents very seriously’,” he said Tuesday on “The Story.”

“In one press conference, she’s literally said that line 17 times. And at the same time, she talks about how transparent the administration has been with the public – while not answering questions.”

Of the lack of official visitor logs for Biden’s Greenville, Del. estate and his Rehoboth Beach, Del., vacation home, Concha said Rehoboth isn’t supposed to be a “Jersey Shore beach house rented out by 20-somethings” but instead a frequent domicile of the president.

PRESIDENT BIDEN IGNORES QUESTION ON WHY CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS WERE FOUND AT HIS THINK TANK

“You’re telling me there isn’t one person that took a log of who was going in and out to see the sitting president of the United States? I have a very hard time believing that,” he said.

Borrowing a critique of President Richard Nixon’s Watergate scandal, Concha concluded that the issue is often “not the crime – it’s the cover-up.”

He also questioned reports about Hunter Biden, reportedly listing his father’s private residence as his address on his own residency forms, given the allegations about his foreign business dealings.

Former New York federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy agreed that Jean-Pierre has not helped the president’s situation, telling “The Story” that every time the press secretary speaks, “she’s actually making [the situation] worse.”

“Biden’s first thing was, I don’t know how they got there. Right. Well, he knows they’re there now. And what is their arrangement? They’re having people who don’t have security clearances do the search,” McCarthy said.

McCarthy questioned what intermediate steps there were in the handling of the classified documents between the end of the Obama-Biden administration and late 2022 when they were found in locations tied to Biden in New Castle County, Del., and Washington, D.C.

Aaron Rodgers says he can win MVP again, but perhaps not with Packers

After taking home back-to-back MVP awards the last two seasons, Aaron Rodgers missed out on the playoffs in 2022.

However, the Green Bay Packers quarterback still has high hopes for himself. The four-time MVP says he can add to his hardware collection.

“Do I still think I can play? Of course. Can I play at a high level? Yeah. The highest,” Rodgers said during his weekly spot on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “I think I can win MVP again in the right situation.”

However, Rodgers did note that his current situation with the Packers may not give him that opportunity.

“Right situation — is that Green Bay or is that somewhere else? I’m not sure,” Rodgers added.

Rodgers and the Packers’ front office have had some tumultuous drama over the past few offseasons. Green Bay selected quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and after the 2021 season, there was legitimate conversation of the future Hall of Famer leaving Green Bay before they eventually agreed on a three-year extension worth over $150 million.

Now, after an 8-9 season in which the Packers missed a playoff appearance with a Week 18 loss to the Detroit Lions, Rodgers’ immediate future in Wisconsin is once again in doubt.

“Look, I think you have a feeling where you are leaning, but there’s a lot of things that come into play,” he said. “I think just some on my side, it’s the physical part, it’s the emotional part, it’s the spiritual part. It’s the ability to go back out there and give it 100 percent. It’s also the situation and where the team is at and the focus moving forward, short term, long term.

“Then it comes down to intuition and what it feels like in your body and what it feels like in your mind. Once you commit, then you commit. You move forward, whatever the decision is, so you know. I just need some time right now. I don’t need to ask anybody to respect my time or whatever. That’s going to be the answer until I’m ready, and when I’m ready to give my opinion like I was last year, I’m either all in or I’m out. …

“But I don’t think you should shut down any opportunity. But, like I said during the season, it’s got to be both sides actually wanting to work together moving forward.”

The Packers traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in March, and he had a third-straight first-team All-Pro campaign. His absence was clearly felt, but rookie Christian Watson burst onto the scene late in the season. In his final eight games, the North Dakota State product scored eight touchdowns while catching 31 passes for 523 yards. He eclipsed 100 receiving yards three times in that span.

Murders are becoming even more concentrated in a handful of urban counties, report shows

Murders in the U.S. are becoming increasingly concentrated in densely populated urban centers in just a handful of counties, according to a newly released report.

Some 73% of all murders in the U.S. took place in just 5% of counties while 52% of all counties reported no murders at all, according to a Crime Prevention Research Center study published this week and provided to Fox News Digital.

“Murders in the United States occur in very small areas, and that concentration has increased since 2014,” the study stated. “The concentration in 2020 is now greater than in 2010.”

The report comes as a violent crime wave that ballooned in 2020 still rages in some parts of the country.

“Murder isn’t a nationwide problem,” the study found. “It’s a problem in a small set of urban areas and even in those counties murders are concentrated in small areas inside them, and any solution must reduce those murders.”

Murders spiked in 2020 as COVID-19 lockdowns upended daily life and protests and riots swept the nation following the killing of George Floyd during an interaction with Minneapolis police. Murders increased by nearly 30% in 2020 compared to the prior year, marking the largest single-year increase in killings since the FBI began tracking such crimes.

The center, led by founder John Lott, divided counties into three different groups based on the amount of murders recorded: a majority of counties that experience no murder; a smaller group of counties that see low murder rates; and a “tiny set of counties where murders are very common.”

The 52% of counties with no reported murders covered 10% of the population, the study said. Some 68% of counties did not exceed one murder in 2020, which accounts for 2.6% of all murders in 2020, according to the report.

Most murders took place in the “worst” 5% of counties that year while the worst 1% — only 31 counties — recorded 42% of the murders in 2020, the study said. That area is where 21% of the entire U.S. population lives.

“The worst 2% of counties (62 counties) contain 31% of the population and 56% of the murders. The worst 5% of counties contain 47% of the population and account for 73% of murders. But even within those counties, the murders are very heavily concentrated in small areas,” the report continued.

Illinois’ Cook County, home to Chicago and about 40% of the state’s population, had the highest amount of recorded murders of any location in 2020 with a whopping 775, according to the report.

ONE OUT OF EVERY 179 AMERICANS WILL EVENTUALLY BE MURDERED IF CRIME RATE CONTINUES, STUDY FINDS

Cook County was followed by:

  • Los Angeles County, 691 murders
  • Harris County, Texas, 537 murders
  • Philadelphia County, 495 murders
  • New York City’s five counties, a combined 465 murders
  • Wayne County, Michigan, 379 murders
  • Shelby County, Tennessee, 311 murders
  • Maricopa County, Arizona, 299 murders
  • Baltimore City county, 291 murders
  • Dallas County, 281 murders
  • Marion County, Indiana, 234 murders

The data was compiled through the FBI’s 2020 Supplementary Homicide Report, according to the center. Though not all states reported such data that year, or underreported data, researchers also used states’ open crime data as a substitution.

The study found that within the counties themselves, murders and other violent crimes are also concentrated in certain areas, and the study pointed to Los Angeles County zip codes as examples.

In L.A. County, the worst 10% of zip codes reported 41% of the murders, the worst 20% of zip codes accounted for 67% of the murders, and the worst 30% at 82% of murders.

US MURDER RATE CONTINUED GRIM CLIMB IN 2021, NEW FBI ESTIMATES SHOW

The data show murders have become more concentrated since 2010. The country’s most dangerous 5% of counties accounted for 71% of U.S. murders in 2010, which fell to 69% in 2014 but jumped to 73% in 2020.

“Between 2010 and 2014, the percentage of murders in the worst 5% of the counties fell from 71% to 69%,” the report found.

“But between 2014 and 2020, they had consistently climbed back by four percentage points, so murders were even more concentrated than in 2010,” it said. “The one percent of worst counties drove that increase. The share of murders in these worst counties rose over this period, but there was no change in these counties’ populations.”

AFTER 2020’S RECORD BLOODY YEAR, LARGE CITIES ACROSS THE NATION STILL FACE SKY-HIGH MURDER RATES 2 YEARS LATER

The murder spike of 2020 has been attributed to a handful of variables, according to experts who previously spoke to Fox News Digital, including: anti-police rhetoric voiced by Black Lives Matter and defund the police proponents; the pandemic; a culture of lawlessness promoted by liberal district attorneys; and the “Ferguson effect” — when police pull back, violent crimes spike.

Jonathan Turley: Biden's lawyers 'likely witnesses in a criminal investigation'

FIRST ON FOX: George Washington University (GWU) law professor Jonathan Turley says that President Joe Biden’s lawyers are “likely witnesses in a criminal investigation” as the probe into Biden’s handling of classified documents continues.

Two stashes of classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president were found in the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., as well as at the president’s Wilmington, Delaware, house in the garage by his Corvette, spiraling the White House into an ongoing scandal after five more classified documents were discovered at his Wilmington home over the weekend.

Turley told Fox News Digital that we “do not know what the evidence will show” and that the “most serious discovery would be evidence that Biden worked off their documents or removed them from their classification folders.”

“That would not only destroy the ‘inadvertence’ defense but make his public comments potentially deceitful of both the public and investigators,” Turley said. “While gross mishandling does not require evil intent, unintentional violations are often addressed outside of the criminal justice system. The most serious violations have been prosecuted where material was intentionally removed.”

“Intent can be established not only at the time of the removal but during the storage of the documents.” he continued. “If these documents were used or knowingly possessed over the six years, it would qualify as an intentional act to unlawfully possess the material.”

Biden is currently facing a special counsel investigation into his handling of classified documents after at least two stashes were found at his Wilmington home and a pro-Biden think tank in Washington, D.C.

Turley added that the “use of private counsel without clearances following the first discovery on Nov. 2 could itself be viewed as reckless and gross mishandling.”

“Moreover, those lawyers are now likely witnesses in a criminal investigation,” Turley said.

Richard Painter, a law professor at the University of Minnesota, told Fox News Digital that the “White House needs to cooperate fully with this investigation, which involves helping the special counsel find out how the documents got to the Penn Biden Center and to his home and who knew they were there (if anybody), as well as cooperating with a DOJ or intel assessment of who may have access to the documents.”

“This is particularly a concern with respect to the Penn-Biden center where the Penn president raised tens of millions from the Chinese, and many people (including Penn donors) had access to the center and must have had a chance to look in Biden’s office and notice the locked closet, raising curiosity about what was inside and perhaps a desire to find out,” Painter said.

Painter served as former President George W. Bush’s White House ethics chief before switching parties and mounting an unsuccessful bid for Senate as a Democrat in 2018.

Republicans on Capitol Hill demanded the visitor logs this weekend following revelations that Biden’s lawyers had discovered five more classified documents inside the home’s garage. While it is common practice to keep comprehensive visitor logs at the White House, Biden’s lawyers say no such records exist for his home in Wilmington.

“Like every President in decades of modern history, his personal residence is personal,” the White House Counsel’s Office told Fox News Digital in a statement on Monday. “But upon taking office, President Biden restored the norm and tradition of keeping White House visitors logs, including publishing them regularly, after the previous administration ended them.”
